Francesco Demuro was born in Porto Torres, Sardinia, in January 1978. Between 2003 and 2004 he studied in the Conservatory in Sassari, and then followed to enrol himself as a private student at the Conservatory in Cagliari, where he received lessons by the soprano Elisabetta Scanu.
His debut in Parma with Luisa Miller was a great success both for the critics and the audience and gained him many invitations by important Italian and foreign theatres. Shortly after that, he sang Luisa Miller again in Sassari. He then debuted in Turin with Rigoletto, that he also sang in Hong Kong in a Tournée with Teatro Regio di Parma, Simon Boccanegra at the Megaron in Athens, Rigoletto in Dresden conducted by Fabio Luisi, Rigoletto at Festival Verdi in Parma and La Bohème in Bari. He obtained great reviews from public and critics for his Spanish debut in Roberto Devereux in Las Palmas and then he sang La Traviata at Teatro Municipal in Santiago (Cile), and Rigoletto in Parma and Beijing.
In 2009 he made his debut in the USA singing La Traviata at Seattle Opera to great acclaim, and in 2010 he obtained a huge personal success at Suntory Hall in Tokyo with Così fan tutte. He sang Lucia di Lammermoor in Hamburg, La Traviata and Rosenkavalier in Dresden, Elisir d’amore at La Scala in Milan, La Bohème in Detroit and at Wiener Staatsoper, Maria Stuarda in Athens, L’Elisir d’amore at Wiener Staatsoper, a new production of Rigoletto at Wiener Festwochen conducted by Omer Meir Wellber and directed by Luc Bondy.
In 2011 he obtained great reviews from public and critics at Arena di Verona, where he opened the summer season singing La Traviata, and his recent debut at Royal Opera House with Gianni Schicchi conducted by M° Pappano was a huge success, and they invited him again to sing Alfredo in La Traviata.
Most recently, he sang La Traviata at Berlin Staatsoper conducted by M° Wellber, Falstaff in Verona, Rigoletto in Hamburg, Don Pasquale at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Macbeth in Munich, La Traviata in Limoges and at Wiener Staatsoper, Rigoletto in San Francisco conducted by Luisotti, again La Traviata at Berlin Staatsoper and at Oper Frankfurt, Mozart’s Requiem in Verona, Falstaff at La Scala, La Bohème at Seattle Opera, Maria Stuarda in Bilbao, Così fan tutte in San Francisco with M° Luisotti.
Future plans include: Rigoletto in Seattle and at Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, La Traviata at Opéra Bastille, Metropolitan in New York, Royal Opera House and Bari, Maria Stuarda at Champs Elysées, Falstaff in San Francisco, >Roméo et Juliette at Arena di Verona.
