When two of the most charismatic musicians join forces with one of the greatest orchestras in the world, the result is simply sheer magic. It is what happened with this gala concert during which the Italian maestro Claudio Abbado, conducting the Berliner Philharmoniker, met the virtuoso violinist Maxim Vengerov to perform a varied programmed filled with an exhilarating energy.
Altogether, they performed Johannes Brahms' Hungarian Dances No. 1, 5, 7,10, 17, 21 and the Waltzes, Op. 52 , Hector Berlioz's overture to Zaide and Hungarian March, Maurice Ravel's Tzigane and La Valse and at last Gioachino Rossini's Rondo/Finale from La Cenerentola.
