From his beginnings as a child prodigy to his encounter with Menahem Pressler to his work as the pianist of Pierre Boulez's Ensemble Intercontemporain, the great virtuoso Alain Planès has never ceased to surprise and inspire. In this recital of solo piano works at Paris's Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, he performs Shostakovich's Piano Sonata No. 2, Stockhausen's Klavierstück IX, and Schubert's Ländler.
