To hear Mozart in the fantastic setting of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, built by the architect Palladio at the end of the 16th century and which is a part of the UNESCO world heritage, is a gift the Hungarian pianist András Schiff gave the audience that evening in May in 2008.

At the head of the Cappella Andrea Barca, a chamber orchestra he founded in 1999, András Schiff first conducts the "Haffner" Symphony. Schiff is not content with being a virtuoso on the piano, he is also an excellent conductor and Mozart is a composer who suits him particularly well. Next comes the Overture of Don Giovanni which he goes straight into, conducting this time from the piano, with the Piano Concerto in D Minor as if it followed directly the Overture. Thanks to this dramatisation of the programme which perfectly matches the setting, the concert is a pleasure for the ear as well as the eye.
