Andrew Manze conducts Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven — With Jan Lisiecki Chamber Orchestra of Europe

About

The magnificent Chamber Orchestra of Europe continue their celebrated residency at Esterházy Palace, joined this time by Canadian virtuoso pianist Jan Lisiecki and maestro Andrew Manze! On the program: Haydn's Symphony No. 98, one of the 12 "London symphonies" and one that is often interpreted as a tribute to Mozart, who had died three months before the work's premiere; the internationally heralded Lisiecki in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major, whose sublime Andante has often featured in popular media like the film Elvira Madigan; and the Symphony No. 4 by none other than Ludwig van Beethoven, a late Classical masterwork that is perhaps heard less often than its odd-numbered counterparts but more than merits a close listen in the hands of these brilliant musicians.
