The festivities open with an unmissable concert that brings maestro Daniel Harding, the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, and cello virtuoso Alisa Weilerstein together at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
Weilerstein opens the program with a stellar rendition of Edward Elgar's epic, soul-stirring Cello Concerto in E Minor—a work that met with lukewarm reception upon its debut but soon found an unshakeable place in the canon thanks to legendary recordings by cellists like Jacqueline du Pré.
