Daniele Gatti gives the best of Verdi with the Chœur de Radio France and the Orchestre national de France.
The Italian conductor, music director of the Orchestre national de France, conducts his ensemble in a great Verdian gala. The programme features overtures and chorus which made the fame of the composer's operas.
Daniele Gatti said: It is a lyrical programme but with no soloists singing. It is up to the choir and the orchestra to be virtuoso enough to reach in only three or four minutes, a deep dramatic strength. The "Patria oppressa," in Macbeth, is nothing without commitment and the expression of feelings. If you listen well to the dances, in Macbeth still, you will realize that they are very demanding for the musicians, first of all because they are very virtuoso. But they also need to be played with cantabile.
