Join superstar pianist Daniil Trifonov and a host of celebrated and talented musician friends for a magnificent chamber concert, specially programmed for this live concert from the 2022 Verbier Festival! Alongside Sergei Dogadin, Blythe Teh Engstroem, Mikhail Petrenko, and the brilliant Klaus Mäkelä on strings, the piano virtuoso offers a delightfully eclectic program of Shostakovich, Mussorgsky, and Mendelssohn.
First up is Shostakovich’s impressive Sonata for Violin and Piano, a resolutely autobiographical composition of great intensity. Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death comes next, a sublimely lyrical mini-cycle, captivating and poetic. To conclude, Mendelssohn’s exquisite Piano Quartet No. 2, composed when he was just 14, remarkable for its musical precision as well as its popular and spirited nature.
