Brahms's Volks-Kinderlieder sung by famous soprano Edith Mathis.
The very much acclaimed Swiss soprano Edith Mathis has not only performed various leading roles in great operas such as The Marriage of Figaro, Fidelio, Le Freischütz, The Knight of the rose); she has also sung Bach cantatas, with Karl Richter, as well as religious songs and Lieder, among them Brahms's Deutsche Volklieder, with tenor Peter Schreier. She also made numerous concert tours in Lieder recitals, including tours to Japan, the USA, Australia, Russia, and Israel.
Swiss pianist Karl Engel was awarded the second prize at the Queen Elisabeth competition in 1952. He toured internationally with orchestras and singers, and he is particularly known for his cycles of Mozart piano sonatas and concertos
They both perform a selection of Johannes Brahms's Volks-Kinderlieder.
