El fuego latino with Alondra de la Parra and Alexis Cárdenas Orchestre National d'Île-de-France

About

Revel in a sweet blend of Western classical traditions and South American innovations in this concert con brio filmed live in December 2016 at the Philharmonie de Paris! Virtuoso violinist Alexis Cárdenas (alumni of Venezuela’s prestigious El Sistema training program) joins the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France under the baton of Mexican maestra Alondra de la Parra for a performance of masterpieces by Chávez, Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Romero, and Villa-Lobos. Toward the end of the program, they team up with Ensemble Recoveco, an extraordinary meeting of the minds between Venezuelan and Colombian musical traditions led by Venezuelan composer-mandolinist Cristóbal Soto (and with Cárdenas among its members!).
