About

Discover this rare footage from 1985 featuring Evgeny Svetlanov conducting Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4, the first of his symphonies that explored the power of fate or fatum. The great maestro made conducting world-renowned ensembles in the Russian repertoire his life’s work... from Scriabin, Glinka, and Glazunov to Rimsky-Korsakov, Stravinsky, and, last but not least, Tchaikovsky, whose complete symphonies he conducts in this series of archival concert recordings.

This program has been kindly shared with us by the Evgeny Svetlanov Foundation to celebrate the maestro's 90th anniversary.
