Gábor Takács-Nagy conducts Ysaÿe and Beethoven — With Marc Bouchkov Verbier Festival 2021

About

The impeccable Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra returns for another unforgettable evening from the 2021 Verbier Festival under the baton of illustrious music director Gábor Takács-Nagy! At the Salle des Combins, they first join the brilliant Marc Bouchkov, who takes on Ysaÿe's Violin Concerto in E Minor, a single movement rediscovered and painstakingly reconstructed by musicologist Xavier Falques in 2019 with the help of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium. Following another virtuosic Ysaÿe work by Bouchkov, Gábor and the VFCO move on to a masterpiece that needs no introduction: Beethoven's monumental Seventh, enthralling from the stately opening movement through the eternally stirring Allegretto, imbued with the gravitas of fate itself, and the ebullient final Allegro.
