David Grimal and Les Dissonances perform Dutilleux's Mystère de l'instant Chamber music

About

Experience an awe-inspiring performance of Dutilleux’s Mystère de l’instant by David Grimal’s Les Dissonances! Composed in 1989, the work puts on full display the extraordinary range of the musical collective. Dutilleux’s Mystère de l’instant is a true challenge for any string orchestra: dividing the ensemble into a large number of different parts, giving them extending unisons, having them accompany solos by the violin, viola, or contrabass.... Like other important contemporary music works, the work features the "Sacher Hexachord": six notes that each correspond to a letter of the name of the patron behind numerous milestones in 20th Century art, Paul Sacher, to whom Dutilleux dedicated the piece.
