Ilya Gringolts and Aleksandar Madzar play Beethoven's sonatas Verbier Festival 2008

About

Ilya Gringolts and Aleksandar Madzar explore the music of Beethoven for violin and piano at an intimate Verbier Festival chamber music recital.

They gave a concert featuring two sonatas for violin and piano by the incomparable Beethoven. They began with a performance of Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 8 in G Major, Op. 30, No. 3, a work whose sense of classic formalism is lightened with joyful enthusiasm. They continued their program with Beethoven’s celebrated Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 9 in A Major, Op. 47, known as the "Kreutzer Sonata."
