Illustrious Czech conductor Jakub Hrůša makes an epic return to his homeland in this world class concert, broadcast from the Rudolfinum’s Dvořák Hall in Prague. The Maestro leads the prestigious Bamberg Symphony in a superb program that begins with the Adagietto from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5. With virtuoso soprano Kateřina Kněžíková, the ensemble performs Richard Strauss’s extraordinarily beautiful Vier letzte Lieder (“Four Last Songs”), the composer’s last work, which premiered more than eight months after his passing. The evening ends in fireworks with the Symphony No. 4 by Josef Bohuslav Foerster, a Bohemian composer born just a stone’s throw from the vibrant venue.
