About

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of one of the world's most celebrated chamber orchestras, the Quebec-based Les Violons du Roy, in grand Handelian style with legendary Canadian singers, Baroque experts, and longtime collaborators Karina Gauvin and Marie-Nicole Lemieux! Led by music director Jonathan Cohen, the orchestra performs an all-Handel extravaganza made up of overtures, sinfonias, arias, and duets from no fewer than six of the Baroque master's finest English-language oratorios. Gauvin's smooth soprano and Lemieux's rich contralto blend in effortless harmony with Les Violons du Roy to cover the full range of Handel's unfailingly moving melodies, including "From this dread scene" from Judas Maccabaeus, the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from Solomon, "As with rosy steps the morn" from Theodora, and more enchanting selections performed with precision and passion.
