In 2013, Chinese superstar pianist Lang Lang took Royal Albert Hall by storm with an in-the-round solo recital on one of the world’s most famous stages. The concert featured Mozart Sonatas No. 5 in G Major, No. 4 in E-flat Major, and No. 8 in A Minor, and Chopin’s Four Ballades, followed by a stunning series of encores including Mozart’s Rondo alla Turca, Schumann’s Davidsbündlertänze No. 5, Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 55, No. 2, and finishing with a breathtaking interpretation of Scriabin’s Étude Op.8 No. 12 in D-sharp Minor. In this performance brimming with “instances of jaw-dropping virtuosity” (The Guardian), Lang Lang once again proved himself worthy of being described as “the hottest artist on the classical music planet” (The New York Times).
