Celebrate the centennials of two of Argentina’s most extraordinary musicians with Daniel Barenboim and his West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in this concert filmed live at Buenos Aires’s Teatro Colón! Alberto Ginastera and Horacio Salgán were both born in 1916, and would go on to revolutionize their native country’s musical landscape: the former as a composer of folklore-infused contemporary classical music, and the latter as a crucial player in the 20th-century development of the Argentine tango. WEDO and Barenboim were joined by Quinteto Real César Salgán led by pianist César Salgán (Horacio’s son) as well as violinist Michael Barenboim (maestro Barenboim’s son) who performed Ginastera’s Violin Concerto, Op. 30.
