Evgeny Kissin in recital: Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Prokofiev Verbier Festival 2024

About

Generational talent Evgeny Kissin, a celebrated mainstay at the Verbier Festival over the decades, returns for another unmissable solo recital on the stage of the Salle des Combins! His program this year begins with Beethoven's Sonata No. 27 in E minor, a captivatingly moody and unconventional sonata in just two movements that many view as a transitional work between the composer's middle and late periods. Kissin continutes with two of Chopin's most masterfully lyrical pieces, the Nocturne in F-sharp minor and Fantasy in F minor; Brahms's booming Ballades, inspired by poetry and myth; and the Piano Sonata No. 2 by a 22-year-old Prokofiev, a work of great emotional extremes that the composer dedicated to a recently deceased friend.

medici.tv’s studio features and broadcasts from the 2024 Verbier Festival are produced with the support of Madame Aline Foriel-Destezet.
