One of Strauss's last works, Metamorphosen for 23 string instruments consists of a single long movement that transforms various themes through all tonalities and deconstructs their structure. The last part of the concert features Le bourgeois gentilhomme, an orchestral suite written by Strauss between 1911 and 1917.
