Hélène Grimaud joins the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under the baton of the great Vladimir Jurowski for a concert dedicated to the music of Strauss and Ravel at Paris's Cité de la Musique in 2009.
One of Strauss's last works, Metamorphosen for 23 string instruments consists of a single long movement that transforms various themes through all tonalities and deconstructs their structure. The last part of the concert features Le bourgeois gentilhomme, an orchestral suite written by Strauss between 1911 and 1917.
Ravel's luminous Piano concerto in G Major comes to life in the fingers of the brilliant Hélène Grimaud, an exceptional pianist known for her work with other chamber musicians, likeMartha Argerich, Dmitri Bashkirov, Gidon Kremer, Shlomo Mintz, Gil Shaham, Paul Meyer, Mischa Maisky, Truls Mørk, Christine Schäfer, Lisa Batiashvili, Thomas Quasthoff, Sol Gabetta, Gautier Capuçon, and Renaud Capuçon. She has been awarded numerous prestigious prizes and has recorded 22 albums.
