The Young Euro Classic is one of the most important classical music festivals for youth orchestras on the international scene and for its 16th edition, orchestras from France, Germany, Mexico, the Middle East, and Russia take the stage of the Berlin Konzerthaus, performing with celebrated conductors and soloists like Gala El Hadidi and Alan Pingarrón.
Works from the classical orchestral canon—among them, Mussorgsky’s A Night on Bald Mountain, the “Habanera” from Bizet’s Carmen, Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, and Rachmaninov’s Third Symphony—share the program with three pieces inspired by Mexican folk music and a moving selection performed on traditional instruments by members of the Arab Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. This concert’s remarkable program is itself an example of the fundamental intercultural dialogue so important in our modern era.
