From his Swiss haven, where he resides four months a year, Tibor Varga certainly made the most of his talents teaching young violinists from the Zion Conservatory of Music. Rehearsing with his band, at the conservatory or at home, the maestro makes his love for music plain, with great passion and great humanism.
As a violinist, conductor and world-renowned teacher, Tibor Varga is definitely one of the greatest musicians of the twentieth century. In 1967, he set up the “International Violin Competition”, which bears his name, an event regarded today as one of the most renowned competitions on the world stage. The “Tibor Varga Festival”, created in 1964 ended in 2002 and was for decades a central institution of the cultural and musical life of Valais.
