Born in Buenos Aires in 1942, Daniel Barenboim demonstrated an uncommon natural gift for the piano from a very young age, but it didn't take long for his other great vocation to emerge at the conductor's podium. His career as a celebrated maestro took off in 1964 when, for the first time, he conducted the Berlin Philharmonic and met Pierre Boulez, with whom he began a lifelong friendship: a musical career nurtured by human connection.
