Shai Maestro Quartet — Live in Paris Jazz à la Villette Festival 2021

About

Israeli pianist and composer Shai Maestro (born in 1987) burst onto the jazz stage very early through his participation in the famous Avishai Cohen Trio, notably the Gently Disturbed and Seven Seas albums. Based in New York, his band leader career begins in 2012 with the likes of saxophonists Chris Potter, Joshua Redman, Ben Wendel, and drummer Ari Hoenig. In 2018, he records his first album with the ECM label.

During this remarkable concert at the 2021 Jazz à la Villette festival, and to mark the release of Human, his second album on the German label, Shai Maestro is surrounded by an all star team of flamboyant virtuosos: Ofri Nehemya on drums, Jorge Roeder on double bass, and Philip Dizack on trumpet. The quartet’s lyrical and bewitching tones take flight with a brand of energetic dynamism that always aims to magnify the melodic line.
