International soloist and virtuoso violinist Gil Shaham works with violinist alumni of the New World Symphony (NWS) in a series of four master classes. They feature young professional violinists performing Classical and Romantic masterpieces from the violin repertoire.
Composed in 1878 and performed the follow year by friend-of-the-composer Joseph Joachim, Brahm’s Violin Concerto in D major represents a crowning achievement in the instrument’s repertoire. In excerpted masterclass footage, NWS alumna Angela Lee performs selections from the concerto’s first movement. Gil Shaham works with Lee on awareness of bow use and the importance of clear presentation and communication as a soloist.
