Simon Carrington teaches Handel: Choruses from "Messiah" Treasures of the Masterclass Media Foundation

About

Simon Carrington, surrounded by young conductors, breathes a breath of fresh air into Handel's celebrated Messiah.

Simon Carrington is a musician of many talents. Over the course of 25 years, he attained renown as a chorister and co-founder of the internationally-acclaimed and prize-winning British vocal ensemble The King's Singers. Not only is he a great singer, but also a talented double bassist, regularly performing with prestigious British orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic and the Monteverdi Orchestra. In 1994, he settled in the USA, teaching at the Kansas University and the New England Conservatory. In 2003, he started to teach Orchestral Conducting at the Yale School of Music and founded the Yale Schola Cantorum, which he led for six years. He is now at the head of his own choir, The Simon Carrington Chamber Singers, and travels the world over to conduct orchestras, and give workshops and masterclasses.
