After Thierry Escaich’s first opera Claude, the Opéra national de Lyon showcases a new operatic composition by the French organist and composer, entitled Shirine. The libretto, written by the Franco-Afghan author Atiq Rahimi and adapted from the epic poem Khosrow and Shirine by 12th-century Persian poet Nezami Gandjavi, narrates the impossible love story between the Persian king, Khosrow and Shirine, a Christian princess from Armenia.
