PRESS RELEASE – Paris, May 12, 2020

THE FONDATION SINGER-POLIGNAC PRESENTS

RENDEZ-VOUS A PARIS

14 CONCERTS FILMED WITHOUT AN AUDIENCE
AND STREAMED LIVE ON MEDICI.TV

The Fondation Singer-Polignac and medici.tv are thrilled to announce the full program of RENDEZ-VOUS A PARIS, a series of 14 exceptional concerts filmed without an audience and streamed live for free, May 16-June 27, 2020.

This brand-new series provides a necessary and professional-caliber outlet through which musicians can share their artistry with music lovers around the world through streaming–a goal more important than ever in the context of COVID-19. Over the past few months, the artistic community has been hit hard by the cancellation of concerts and festivals, as well as the closure of crucial cultural spaces including operas, theaters, and concert halls. It is essential to create new means of connection in order to keep music alive around the globe.

Inspired by an idea from Renaud Capuçon, an Associate Artist of the Foundation’s since 2011, this exclusive series brings together some of today’s most sought-after artists. 40 musicians–including both rising stars and established artists–will participate and the series will mark for many of them their first performance since the beginning of social distancing measures in March. (See full program below.)

The event will also underline the important work of the renowned Institut Pasteur, as music lovers around the world will be encouraged to donate and join the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Each broadcast will feature prominent calls to donate to the Institut Pasteur, as will medici.tv’s website and social media channels.

RENDEZ-VOUS A PARIS will comprise both recitals and chamber music concerts and include repertoire from the Baroque era through to the twenty-first century. Each performance will be filmed without an audience in the historic setting of the Fondation Singer-Polignac’s celebrated Salon de Musique. Taking place from May 16 to June 27, each RENDEZ-VOUS A PARIS will be streamed live for free on the medici.tv platform and the Fondation Singer-Polignac’s website. The concerts will remain available to watch for free worldwide on replay until July 14, 2020.

Each performance and broadcast will follow the security guidelines outlined by the French government, including a minimum distance of 1.5m between musicians and technicians; a maximum of 11 people present at any given time in the Salon de musique (approximately 140m2); a technical team in isolation and wearing masks; and protective covering of equipment.
