Relive this “Super Quartet” concert in the company of Cuban pianist and composer Chucho Valdés, held during the first edition of the Bayfront Jazz Festival, on UNESCO’s International Jazz Day. A figurehead of Afro-Cuban Jazz, Valdés has been developing a fusion between Jazz and Afro-Cuban beats in a dazzling and energetic style since the 1970s.
In this quartet concert, he gathers around himself virtuoso instrumentalists to showcase and magnify the great classics of his repertoire, his new compositions, as well as his tributes to pianists Michel Camilo and Chick Corea. We travel between universes and the different worlds of the master’s influences, with such works as : El Rumbón, La Comparsa, and La Sitiera evoke Afro-Cuban Music, The Clown references Maurice Ravel’s scores. The program ends with brilliant interpretations of jazzy masterpieces such as Armando's Rhumba and Solar.
