Harold Lopez-Nussa, his brother Ruy, as well as trumpeter Mayquel Gonzalez are at the pinnacle of their art during this concert given at the 2014 Cosmo Jazz Festival in the French Alps. Born in Cuba in a musical family, Lopez-Nussa is taught the piano from a young age, and reaches global stardom in 2005 with a memorable performance at the legendary Montreux Jazz Piano. Here, the trio interprets works from its album New Day in a pastoral and refreshing decor.
Ruy Adrian Lopez-Nussa, brother of illustrious bandleader, expresses all of his passion on the cajón, a Peruvian instrument born in the 18th century. A rising star himself, Ruy is also a composer of note, a fact we can witness during the performance of his Guajira, a sunny piece filled with syncopated rhythms. Last but not least, Mayquel Gonzalez dazzles the audience with his incisive and clear sound on the trumpet, complementing to perfection the brotherly chemistry of the aformentioned duo.
