"Diatom Ribbons" is the latest in a long line of intriguing musical projects from Canadian pianist Kris Davis, one of today's most stylistically adventurous artists. Davis's new venture—her sixth studio album—seamlessly blends thoughtful improvisation, electronic exploration, and pianistic virtuosity. Here, she's joined by Val Jeanty (turntables) and Terri Lyne (drums) at the 2020 Sons d'Hiver, a festival that has welcomed emerging and established artists to various cities in the Val-de-Marne, turning the central French region into a hotbed of musical activity each winter.
