Maltese soprano, Claire Debono graduated with an MMus from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she studied with Laura Sarti. Recent operatic roles include: Anne Trulove (The Rake’s Progress) for Théatre de la Monnaie; European and New York tour of Idomeneo (Illia) with Les Arts Florissants, including performances at the Lincoln Centre, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Peralada Festival and Teatro Filarmonico di Verona; Despina (Cosi Fan Tutte) and Hanako (Hanjo) for Opéra de Lyon; Concert performance of Don Giovanni (Zerlina) and for Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie on their tour of Japan; Vespina (Infedelta Delusa) at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, La Gloire (Armide) at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and, Isabelle (L’Amant Jaloux) in Versailles and Minerva (Ritorno d’Ulisse) in Madrid.
Concert performances include: Tour of Europe and New York with William Christie’s Le Jardin des Voix; Mozart et Le Concert Spirituel, C-Minor Mass with Orchestre de Paris and Neeme Jarvi, Mozart Recital with Concerto Köln, Rameau recital for Bozar in Brussels and concerts at St. James Piccadilly, London with guitar duo ¡Canto vivo! and Unsuk Chin’s Cantatrix Sopranica for the Settembre Musica Festival (Milan and Turin) with The London Sinfonietta.
Future engagements include Cupid in Semele with Christophe Rousset as well as First lady in Zauberflöte with Jean-Christophe Spinosi at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, The Fairy Queen on tour with Les Arts Florissants, Despina at Théâtre des Champs Elysées with Jeremie Rhorer, with Accentus she’ll sing a Schubert programme on tour and sing Mahler 2 with Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège and François Xavier Roth and has several recitals scheduled, including performances at Opéra de Lille and Bruxelles-Congrès.
