Born in Tuscany, Patrizia Ciofi is one of the most sought-after operatic sopranos of her generation. The theatricality and the deep expressiveness of her voice allowed her to perform several styles of music, from the Baroque era to the 20th century, while developing her fame on major opera stages in beautiful operatic roles.
Patrizia Ciofi began her voice studies in Livorno at the Pietro Mascagni Musical Institute in the class of the Polish soprano Anastasia Tomaszewska-Schepis. She graduated from the Conservatorio Pietro Mascagni of Livorno and then took part to master classes alongside prestigious singers such as Carlo Bergonzi, Shirley Verrett, Alberto Zedda, Claudio Desderi and Giorgio Gualerzi to improve. She had been awarded several prizes during national and international voice competitions.
She made her debuts in 1989 at the Teatro communale in Florence in Gino Negri's Giovanni Sebastiano. Afterwards, she performed on major Italian and European scenes, in operas such as in recitals. As well in Italian as in French, she had performed roles of Donna Anna (in Mozart's Don Giovanni), Violetta — a role she loves — (in Verdi's La Traviata), Gilda (in Verdi's Rigoletto), Nanetta (in Verdi's Falstaff), Adina (in Donizetti's L’Elisir d’Amore), the title role in Massenet's Cendrillon, Musetta (in Puccini's La Bohème), the title role in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Susanna (in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro), Amina (in Bellini's La Sonnambula) and many other major operatic roles. Her repertoire also includes works by Wagner, Richard Strauss, Debussy and Mussorgsky. Patrizia Ciofi records most of her performances on live, in order to pick up better their theatricality.
