Some of the greatest performers, ranging from Roger Norrington to Giuseppe Sinopoli, from Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau to Yehudi Menuhin, highlight the multiple facets of Schubert's symphonies.
We experience how each of them stresses certain aspects over others, giving rise to very diverse but equally compelling interpretations. The use of excerpts from a few feature films depicting Schubert's life all along the programs act as a poetic tool to enhance the link between the performers' reading of the symphonies and Schubert's own experiences.
