Inspired from Stifter's texts from the 19th century, Heiner Goebbels builds this experimental performance, an extraordinary artistic challenge, by using the latest in new technology, with the complicity of his stage designer Klaus Grünberg.
During the creative process we see how Goebbels brings form to space, time and an "experience of things" through a subtle and beautiful ballet of tension, energies and conflicting forces played out by machines, light effects, rigged instruments and surprising scenic props.
Through this documentary, blending interviews and scenes of the director at work, without any exterior commentary, we gain insight into Goebbels' creative process, and discover how a visual and sound installation, remote controlled by computers, can represent the cutting edge in contemporary theater.
