Kenny Garrett is a regular at the Jazz à la Villette festival. The Detroit saxophonist owes a lot to John Coltrane (to whom he pays tribute with Pursuance: The Music of John Coltrane) but also to Sonny Rollins, who introduced him to the Caribbean style, and Miles Davis, with whom he grew up and went on to share the stage.
Co-produced by La Villette and the Philharmonie de Paris, the Jazz à La Villette festival brings audiences the best of jazz every summer. For this 2019 edition, Kenny Garrett and his quintet present a new repertoire that had been hotly anticipated since the release of Do Your Dance, in 2016. This true showman lays himself bare on stage, offering contagious music through sound and movement.
