French pianist Laurent Coulondre pays tribute to one of his idols, the great Michel Petrucciani. Accompanied by Jérémy Bruyère on bass and André Ceccarelli on drums, the trio perform a selection of works in honor of the late legendary pianist. Coulondre also treats the audience to a short masterclass on the Hammond organ, which he plays solo, as well as accompanied by piano, reminiscent of the live duo recording Petrucciani did with organist Eddy Louiss. Coulondre’s technical skill on both instruments is extremely impressive, particularly as he trades improvised solos between himself on piano and himself on organ. A concert full of exciting, contrasting works, played at an incredible standard by all three musicians, honoring a great musician that came before them.
