The French composer and multi-instrumentalist, Michel Portal, is equally at home in the world of classical music (he has performed Mozart, Brahms, Berg and Berio, among others) and jazz (he has played with Bojan Z, Daniel Humair and Henri Texier). This dual ability has earned him the title of "one of the architects of modern jazz" (AllAboutJazz). At the Sons d'Hiver festival in 2016, he returned to his album Minneapolis, where jazz, funk and rock meet during long sequences of collective improvisation where each artist completely dispossessing themself, inventing a new, and sometimes surprising, world.
