The eighth concert of the Moscow Conservatory’s “Svetlanov – Universe!” Festival features Rachmaninov’s most celebrated piece of chamber music, his Cello Sonata in G minor, Op 19, which echoes its composer’s emotional and psychological struggles after the poor reception of the First Symphony. Cellist Alexander Kniazevand pianist Andrei Korobeinikov carry off this program with incredible virtuosity and musical sensitivity.
