During the 11th Moscow Easter Festival in 2013, Alexandra Westmeier joined the Mariinsky Orchestra in its journey from city to city through the Russian countryside.
The Moscow Easter Festival was founded in 2002 by Valery Gergiev and Yury Luzhkov. The festival’s enthusiastic public reception quickly made it an indispensable feature of the international classical music scene. These days it has become an "all-Russian" rather than a Moscow-centered event, partially due to the festival’s practice (established in 2011) of splitting the musical activities up between the large cities of Russia’s different regions.
This documentary follows the orchestra through every step of its musical journey. In a series of interviews with musicians and its musical director, Valery Gergiev, Alexandra Westmeier gives audiences a behind-the-scenes look at this impressive project. Take advantage of this opportunity to share unforgettable musical moments with one of Russia’s oldest and best musical establishments!
