Initially trained as a bassoonist, he was the student of Charles Bruck at the Pierre Monteux Memorial School (USA). At the age of 20, he formed Les Musiciens du Louvre, with whom he distinguished himself as a performer of French baroque music and of Monteverdi, Handel, Mozart and Beethoven. From 2004 to 2006, he was associated with the Opéra de Paris where he conducted the Magic Flute, Iphigeneia in Tauris and Plataea.
In 2007, he innovated with Carmen – in its original orchestration – at the Théâtre du Châtelet, and with Pelléas and Mélisande by Debussy, directed by Olivier Py at the Théâtre Stanislavski in Moscow (Golden Mask for best spectacle and best conductor). Since 2008 he has been the musical director of the Sinfonia Varsovia.
After conducting Mireille by Gounod at the opening of the Opéra de Paris, he conducted Don Quichotte by Massenet and the Huguenots by Meyerbeer at La Monnaie, The Tales of Hoffmann at the Liceu in Barcelona and Romeo and Juliette (Gounod) and the two Iphigeneias by Gluck at the Amsterdam Opera.
