The Emerson Quartet performs Ravel Farewell concert at the Fondation Louis Vuitton

About

After nearly fifty years, dozens of acclaimed recordings, nine Grammy Awards, and countless enraptured audiences all over the world, the Emerson Quartet has decided to disband in October 2023. As part of their can't-miss farewell tour, catch "America's quartet" in their final concert in France at Paris's Fondation Louis Vuitton, where they perform one of the most enchanting works in the repertoire: Ravel's atmospheric String Quartet in F. Perhaps the French composer's earliest masterpiece, the quartet is a work of great virtuosity that only an ensemble like the legendary Emerson Quartet can perform to its fullest expression—brimming over with driving rhythms, lush lyricism, and striking pizzicati in its famous second movement, irresistible from first to last measure.
