Join us live at the Philharmonie de Paris in the esteemed company of the Bamberg Symphony and their music director, maestro Jakub Hrůša! On the program is one of the monuments of the symphonic repertoire, Mahler's Ninth—the final completed symphony by the Bohemian-born master, and one of the most beloved works ever written. The symphony begins and ends with slow movements, masterpieces of bittersweet wistfulness around two faster, richly contrapuntal movements.

For conductor and ensemble, the work represents a return to their roots: the Bamberg Symphony, founded in 1946 largely by musicians who had fled Prague during World War II, is indirectly descended from the Czech Philharmonic, the illustrious orchestra that premiered another of Mahler's symphonies (the 7th) in 1908.
