In his recital at the 2008 Verbier Festival, the young Polish pianist Rafał Blechacz performs Bach, Liszt, and Chopin with delicacy and virtuosity.
At only 23 years old, Rafał Blechacz is a revelation among of the younger generation: he won the first prize and all of the special prizes at Warsaw’s 2005 Frédéric Chopin International Piano Competition, a victory that propelled him onto the world’s most prestigious stages (London’s Wigmore Hall, Vienna’s Konzerthaus, New York’s Avery Fisher Hall, Milan’s La Scala, and Tokyo’s Suntory Hall among them).
A poet in his phrasing, a magician in his performances marked by an incredible technical mastery of his demanding music, Rafał Blechacz presents a very personal interpretation of Liszt’s Études and Chopin’s Mazurkas and Sonata No.3, Op. 58.
