Klaus Mäkelä conducts Mahler's Symphony No. 5 Verbier Festival 2024

About

The Verbier Festival Orchestra, under the assured baton of Klaus Mäkelä, performs Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, a masterpiece of grand proportions written in Vienna just after the composer met his future wife, Alma. The emotional trajectory of the music, opening with a funeral march and culminating in an exuberant chorale theme, mirrors this joyful development in the composer’s personal life.
