When walking in Venice, it’s difficult not to think of Vivaldi. At the bend of a canal, and behind every window, one can imagine the composer’s silhouette, surrounded by musicians in costume bearing baroque instruments.
The oboist Alfredo Bernardini guides us through the world of baroque music, taking us through the steps from the score to the concert, including the studying, the rehearsing and the making of musical instruments. The film begins on the canals of Amsterdam, where Bernardini lives and studies, and continues on the canals of Venice where three centuries ago, Vivaldi composed his most renowned masterpieces.
