Born in Staffordshire Lucy Crowe is rapidly establishing herself as one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music. In 2002 she received the Royal Overseas Gold Medal and in 2005 won second prize in Kathleen Ferrier Awards.

At the Aldeburgh Festival she has sung Acis and Galatea (Galatea) under Richard Egarr, Britten’s Praise we Great Men with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Sakari Oramo, and Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang under Paul Daniel. At the Edinburgh Festival she has sung Israel in Egypt under Emmanuel Haim. She made her Salzburg Festival debut in the summer of 2010 with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under Ingo Metzmacher and her Mostly Mozart Festival New York debut under Ivan Fischer in the summer of 2011.
Lucy has given recitals at the Brighton, Belfast, Norfolk and Norwich Festivals, London’s St Martin-in-the-Fields, Chelsea Arts Club, the National Portrait Gallery and the Wigmore Hall.
This season Lucy made her US opera debut to critical acclaim as Iole (Hercules) for the Chicago Lyric Opera. She made her debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Belinda in Dido and Æneas. Other operatic engagements include Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) for the Royal Opera House, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Scottish Opera; Dorinda (Orlando) in Lille, Paris and Dijon Opera; Poppea in Agrippina and Drusilla in The Coronation of Poppea for ENO; Nanetta in Falstaff for Scottish Opera; Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Il Re Pastore for Garsington Opera; Susanna and Michal in Handel’s Saul for Opera North and The Fairy Queen with William Christie for the Glyndebourne Festival and in Paris and New York.
Future engagements include the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen for the Glyndebourne Festival, Susanna at the Royal Opera House, Gilda at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and she will make her debut at The Metropolitan Opera, New York.
