Along with the excellent City of Birmingham Symphony, they embark on a journey that sees them take on these three highly complex masterpieces in this series of archival treasures from 1997. In this final recording, we hear the Piano Concerto No. 3, lighter and more lyrical than its predecessors, although written at the very end of Bartók's life as a birthday gift to his wife Ditta Pásztory. The expressive and unique concerto unveils all its wonders under the delicate touch of the soloist, a fitting conclusion to this remarkable cycle.
