Peter Frankl gives a master class on Liszt’s Les Jeux d'eau de la Villa d'Este.
Franz Liszt's Années de pèlerinage (Years of Pilgrimage) is a set of three suites for solo piano. Composed in 1877, the fourth movement of the Troisième année (Third Year) is called Les Jeux d'eau de la Villa d'Este (The Fountains of the Villa d'Este). Above the music, Liszt included a quotation from the Gospel of John: "But the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up into eternal life".
The Hungarian-born British pianist Peter Frankl is a Visiting Professor at the Yale School of Music and Honorary Professor of the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he himself studied with Professors Lajos Hernádi, Kodály and Weiner.
