Meet accordionist, bandoneonist, and composer Richard Galliano on the stage of the Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa Festival to celebrate his fifty years of career!
This splendid concert unites Galliano and the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, who gift us with a splendid performance of a concerto for bandoneon and orchestra by Astor Piazzolla, as well as one of the virtuoso's own compositions. Aconcagua, a major jewel of Piazzolla's repertoire opens the program with vivacious and breathtaking rhythms, which become increasingly sweeter and melodic with the soloist tone and the strings' intertwining, before ending with a mightily joyful finale. The soloist's own Madreperla follows, an hommage to his instrument, whose title translates to "nacre", in reference to its keys. The work begins with a discussion between accordion, flute, and oboe, before percussions come in with a striking rhythm, followed by the whole orchestra. Richard Galliano once again showcases his mighty talent and virtuosity, magnified by the orchestra under the baton of maestro Adam Sztaba.
